Bonn 24/7

library, library, library …

Bonn always meant some kind of 24/7 week. For the next four months in Germany it won’t be different. Finally, I am back! After several weeks at my parents' house in Neuwied I recently moved into the Römerlager, a huge students' dormitory near the Rhine in the northern part of Bonn. I was lucky to get a nice room with view on the river.

My schedule tells me I will sit in the library from morning until afternoon preparing for final examinations, or taking a few last classes. First, I was happy to attend Vietnamese classes again, but now I realize that the level here at school is already too low at some times. Afternoon until evening is dedicated to my sideline as a telephone interviewer in order to get money. Probably I will sign a contract for a more interesting and better paid job as a survey translator from German to English in a research institute near university next week. I also signed a contract in the fitness club and am doing sports during the early night-time in order to stay balanced.

As in former days, Dr. Scharfsinn and me we share lots of time, thoughts on study issues, on our considered future in Asia and all things that come up in the canteen, on the way to work or on the cross-trainer in the gym. Final exams will be in July. I hope I will be back to Southeast Asia thereafter, al least for a holiday in Bali or a research excursion, and in order to inform about postgraduate options in Singapore and Bangkok. Some work experience or intern in the field of tourism development would be even better than any holiday…applications have been sent already.
